The goal of the product is to provide a better experience to runners who need to have their phone on them while running multiple miles in one go. The is currently no innovative solution to storing a user's smartphone while running, as all designs on the market simply strap the phoone to the user's arm withour any regard to the functionality of the product.
The product aims to provide the following benefits:
The packaging entails a piece of cardboard that is surrounding the product, making both the front and back of the product visible and palpable for the customer. This would make the product very easy to sell as the customer can see and touch both sides of the product, which would grab a lot of attention and make the product easy to understand.
Nike's current product was originally designed for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and therefore does not fit most modern phones as they have all changed in shape and size since. The product is also very basic and features a very simple and rudimentary design lacking any features or functionality.
The concept in this presentation is designed to offer an innovative reinvention of this product category by
Version 1 uses a neoprene layer glued to the air system in order to separate the user's arm from the rubber material and create airflow, it features four horizontal welded lines that provide stability to the air system but also a large cover area for the neoprene material.
Version 2 features a 3D mesh layer covering the air system entirely. The 3D mesh is a around 3 millimetres thick in order to absorb perspiration and provide airflow, while also featuring gaps in the mesh for added airflow and to allow the air system to be visible, and it features a revised welded dots pattern for the air cushion to create even more stability and an evenly distributed cushioning area.
Everything you can see on this website is entirely the property of Iulian-Daniel Petcu, and this concept has been patented with a PPA (Patent Pending) by the USPTO for the purpose of proposing this concept to Nike (or a different company) for production.
The use of the Nike logo does not entail any affiliation with Nike or any ownership by Nike, I am fully entitled to use the Nike logo for non-commercial means, as those are only proof-of-concept visual renders. Nike has had no involvement in this project and the project has not been funded by Nike, but it has been developed fully independently and out of private funds.
The reason for using the Nike logo, is due to the intention of proposing this concept to Nike for production which has been done independently of Nike. In the case of refusal for production by Nike, the logo will be removed in the context of proposing the concept to a different company. It should be noted that the design is not inspired by, or related to, Nike's design language, but rather by Apple's minimalistic design language in order to fit the iPhone's aesthetic. This design does not infringe on any patent by Nike, as it proposes new utility for an air bladder (air bag), and the patent is not for the air bladder itself, but rather for the overall utility of the product in the context of cushioning a user's arm while performing physical exercise.
